Hard to write about myself and not sure where to start. When I play the name game ice breaker, I prefer “Average Adam” 🙂

A Philly boy. I was born to Jim and Debbie Taylor in a suburb about five miles outside of Philadelphia with almost no knowledge of the world outside of the U.S. I spent 26 years calling P.A. my  home, including an extra long stint at Penn State.

After about 15 years rebelling hard against the Christian faith and dealing with my issues, God yanked me out of Philly and put me in Northern Virginia, outside of DC. I got a promotion of sorts, becoming a National Account Manager for Aetna Inc.

This was the best change of scenery I could have asked for. A complete culture shock, leaving the best sports fans in the world for an area that had sports very low on the priority list. Bumping into
“politico’s” and “activist” became a welcomed change. Though I love and have pride in my roots, I have grown to adore the DC area.

In 2006 I made my first attempt to re-enter the church. I grew up in a Christian household, but stayed as far away from their values as possible. My first service in the Ballston Mall movie theater was like I was finally finding out where I belong.

I have grown a ton since joining National Community Church in 2006. Though I still lack a real quality filter, am low on tact, and sometimes succumb to low brow humor, I am as close to Christ as I have ever been!

I am passionate and enjoy making people smile. I try hard to make people laugh and get energy from fellowship. Like my family, i have a servants heart. I try often to break habits and have guilt issues along with many other issues. I work hard at self improvement and am very introspective, while being an extrovert.

I have been in Ethiopia since Sept 2009, and living with our former street boys since August, 2010. I moved there because my boy Lilly, ten years on the street showed me his home in a sewer and that was that. God made me do it! Now Lilly is one of our most mature, amazing young men in the house and I have HUGE dreams for him.

I can’t even begin to update the above with enough detail about how God has worked in my life and the lives of our boys. Having a chance to be a role model, act as a father, learn a new language and culture, experience the severe highs and lows of this ministry, and so on has excitingly changed my life forever.

I can’t understand why I am able to be a part of these amazing things happening in Ethiopia, but I couldn’t be more thankful. I am so excited for what the future holds and understand joy much better then I had in my previous 30 years of life..

Though I still suffer from “foot in mouth” disease, I have enjoyed the addition of a little respect, tact, and diplomacy God has helped me learn. My passion comes in ebs and flows, but all in all I am as intensely passionate as ever.. I love street boys and pray I can always work to build them up, along with creating ways to encourage men to step up as father figures throughout our world.

I want to serve street children for the rest of my life, which might make me insane.
